Capturing the Moment

Have I told you about Penny’s amazingly talented aunt Amanda? In addition to being funny and sweet and having the biggest heart of anyone I know, my sister is an exceptional photographer. She specializes in real life photography, and loves to capture moments as they happen. When you look at her photos, you get a true sense of how the people in them were feeling at the exact moment they were taken.

This is why I was so thrilled when she sent me the pictures she had taken from her visit a few weeks ago. Kevin and I had decided to wait a week to find out the gender of our baby so that we could find out as a family (with my parents and sister and her fiancé). Amanda lives in Michigan, and couldn’t fly down until the weekend. (You can read about our gender reveal here).

It was so worth the wait, though, because not only was it wonderful having our family here with us, but Amanda was also able to capture the exact moments that we found out we were having a girl on camera.

Next to finding out we actually were pregnant, that was one of the most exciting moments of our lives, and you can definitely see it on our faces. I am so glad that Penelope will be able to see that look on our faces too, and know how much we loved her even before she was born.
